Our Story

In 2014, amidst the golden sand dunes of Oman, far from roads and cities, the idea behind Orient Memories was born. I had actually moved to Oman for a three-month internship. However, months turned into years as the country and its people captivated me. At some point, I bought a tent, moved into the desert – and thus Canvas Club was born: a mobile glamping camp that continues to bring the magic of the Orient to travelers in a respectful way.

We set up the first tents ourselves – the beginning of a philosophy. Under every starry sky, we realized what truly matters: genuine, unforgettable moments. The desert became more than just a place. It became a feeling – of freedom, adventure, and deep connection with nature. These values continue to shape us to this day.

When Ali joined us, a new chapter began. He built his own team – brothers, cousins, and friends from his village. They cook as they learned at home, tell stories passed down from their grandparents, and read the desert like a map.

Without the Habibis, there would be no Canvas Club. They are the soul of our camps and make every stay a little more unforgettable for our guests.

A bit deeper in the Sharqiya Desert, hidden among golden dunes, lies the Silent Dunes Camp. With only five bungalows, it is the smallest camp in the region – and perhaps the quietest. No reception, no distractions. Only sky, sand, and silence.

In the evenings, the fire crackles, the stars seem to come closer, and in the morning, you might find a camel waiting at your door, ready for a ride through the dunes at sunrise.

Then there are journeys that not only take you from one place to another – but back to yourself. Our Oman Expedition is one of them. For days, there is nothing but sand, sky, and silence. No mobile reception. No plans. Just the rhythmic sound of tires on the sand and the sun coloring the dunes.

The Rub al Khali – the 'Empty Quarter' – is the largest sand desert in the world. An endless sea of dunes that constantly changes. Here there are no roads, no fences, no lights. Only vastness, silence, and an ancient power that reveals more by giving less.

Out here, time loses its meaning. Thoughts grow quieter. What remains is what counts: the sand beneath your feet, the wind on your skin, the stars above your tent – and you, unfiltered, present.

Oman is the origin of Orient Memories and to this day the heart of our work. Here our story began – and today we are the largest specialist for tailor-made Oman trips in Europe.

With our own agency on site, we can personally manage every detail. We work not only with selected partners but also have our own Omani guides who accompany our guests like friends and share stories that you won't find in any guidebook. Over the years, we have developed unique products that showcase Oman in its full diversity.
