On my bucket list

Saudi Arabia

At the very top of my wish list is Saudi Arabia. The reflecting facade of Maraya in AlUla, the view from the Edge of the World at Jebel Fihrayn, and the Wadi Disah with its rocky canyons. A country that has just awakened for travelers – that is exactly what makes it so exciting for me.

Desert crossing in Oman

My next trip takes me back to Oman. At the very top of my to-do list this time is a desert expedition. I want to experience that incomparable feeling of freedom between the dunes myself next time.

About Luisa – How the Orient conquered my heart

I got to know the Orient more deeply through my job. Above all, Oman surprised me a lot – to be honest, I hadn’t even had the country on my radar before. I traveled to Oman back then completely without expectations and was sent directly across the country for two weeks. During that time, I saw almost everything there is to discover. By the end of the trip, it was over for me – I had completely fallen in love with Oman.

One moment from those first weeks has particularly stuck in my mind to this day: the camel ride to our Canvas Club Camp, when suddenly the tent tops appeared between the dunes – completely secluded, like from another world. In the evenings, I climbed the dunes to watch the sunset and just enjoyed that feeling of freedom and happiness.

And then there was the Wadi Hawer. If someone had told me beforehand that I would jump seven meters deep into crystal-clear water pools from rock ledges or climb through the rocks to a cave with a waterfall, I would never have believed it. But that's exactly what I did – and it was pure adrenaline. This mix of breathtaking nature, adventure, and the incredible warmth of the people continues to fascinate me the most to this day.

Places that particularly excite me

Wahiba Desert

The desert is my absolute longing place in Oman. Every time, I am most impressed by this incredible silence. No noise, no distractions, and above all, no cell phone reception – a night without the internet suddenly feels not like deprivation, but simply incredibly liberating.

Sitting by the campfire in the evening, looking up at the clear starry sky, counting shooting stars, or discovering planets through the telescope – such moments simply stick in your mind.

Jabal Akhdar

The Alila Jabal Akhdar is one of my favorite hotels in Oman. It completely blends into the mountainous landscape, and the view from up there is simply special. For those who prefer a bit more adventure: I did the Via Ferrata here – an absolute highlight. Jabal Akhdar combines both peace and thrills for me.

Salalah

Salalah has a completely different vibe than the rest of Oman: everything is a bit greener, there are white, almost deserted beaches and turquoise waters. You really encounter camels everywhere – even on the highway. I was particularly impressed by the frankincense trees. And the Anantara was the perfect place for me to explore the south of the country.

Dubai

I love the fountains at Burj Khalifa. At first glance, it may sound like a tourist trap – but the interplay of water features, music, lights, and this backdrop is simply impressive. What particularly remains with me are the people there: families, friends, and travelers from all over the world, who together marvel for just a moment. This mix of energy and joy of life makes such moments special.

Marrakech

Marrakech immediately captivated me. I love walking through the streets of the medina without a plan and letting myself drift. One of my most beautiful moments was sitting on a small rooftop terrace in the evening, watching the hustle and bustle below and noticing how the city slowly calms down. This mix of hustle, colors, and these little unexpected moments makes Marrakech so special for me.

Canvas Club Camp

The nights in the Canvas Club are moments that I carry deeply in my heart. This special calm, the expanse of the desert, and the feeling of arriving at oneself for a moment make this place so unique for me. A little break from everything – a place where you can simply be.

Alila Jabal Akhdar

At Alila Jabal Akhdar, I love this mix of tranquility and adventure. When the sun sets behind the mountains, the peaks are only visible as silhouettes, and later the clear starry sky stands above you, it is simply a special moment. And then the Via Ferrata with adrenaline, height, and this incredible view over the mountains.

Dubai

For me, Dubai is so much more than just a skyline and luxury. I love these little moments that you only discover when you know the city: warm evenings, spontaneous stops by the water, and that special feeling when Dubai slowly comes to life.
