Lazib Inn Resort & Spa

About 90 minutes by car southwest of Cairo, in the village of Tunis in the Fayoum Oasis, lies the Lazib Inn Resort & Spa – a design find high above the shores of Qarun Lake. The French couple Olivier and Nanette Masson created here in 2015 a boutique resort in traditional Fayoumi architectural style from a hill full of ancient cycads, characterized by its pink facades, blue shutters, and a collection of their own artworks. Each of the roughly 20 individually designed suites tells its own story with vintage carpets, open fireplaces, and bold color accents. From the private terraces, the view sweeps over two infinity pools to the turquoise Qarun Lake and the desert beyond. A place where design, tranquility, and the primal beauty of the Fayoum Oasis combine in a special way.

Culinary

At the Blue Donkey Restaurant, the team cooks with vegetables from its own garden and fresh, locally sourced ingredients from the Fayoum region. The cuisine combines Egyptian flavors with international classics and is served on one of the numerous terraces overlooking the lake. Two pool bars invite for refreshments during the day, while in the evenings one can unwind by the open fireplace or with a glass of wine from the hotel's small wine selection. The breakfast with freshly baked bread and homemade jams is also among the highlights of a stay.

The Lazib Inn Resort & Spa is located in the artists' village of Tunis on the shores of Qarun Lake, about 90 minutes by car southwest of Cairo in the Fayoum Oasis. Tunis Village itself is known for its traditional pottery and numerous small studios and galleries that can be explored on foot.
